Edge Hill was my first baby. Long before there was a second studio, long before there were babies of the human kind — there was a little space in Edge Hill that became something I never could have planned.
I opened the doors in 2021 with an idea, a belief, and a community I hadn't yet met. I didn't know then that 3,021 people would walk through those doors. I didn't know they would become some of my closest friends, my greatest teachers, and the reason I kept showing up.
Edge Hill is where I learned what Kynd actually was. Not a studio. A movement of people. A place where bodies healed, relationships formed, babies were announced, grief was held, and the ordinary Tuesday became something people looked forward to.
Closing this studio is genuinely one of the hardest things I've done. The lease ended. The timing aligned. Stratford is thriving and needs all of me. But none of that makes it simple — because nothing that matters ever is.
This page is here so we never forget where it all began. The creak of the floorboards. The afternoon light. The way that room held us all.
Thank you, Edge Hill. Thank you for starting us.
Edge Hill started us. Stratford is carrying us forward. The community, the teachers, the classes, the kyndness — all of it lives on at 96 Magazine Street, Cairns. Come find us there.
